Our "paint your own pottery" kits are easy, fun and convenient.

Our experience is designed for you to do it at home—for some, removing the time, pressure and sometimes mess factor of the traditional paint your own pottery studio setting. We like to think we're delivering the studio experience to you—and adding a bit of convenience to your world.

Painting at home, on your own time, is a great option, especially, if you're the parent or caregiver of more than one child. In a studio, managing the painting process can be a bit challenging.

We thrive on design and innovation. We want to inspire you. We know one of the first questions consumers ask themselves, after selecting WHAT they are going to paint, is: "Now HOW am I going to paint it."

That's why we created our virtual design room (although under construction at the moment), you'll find step by step design instructions, a few tips, and the latest season's trends—a great resource since you're painting at home. Ultimately, we want you to create usable, practical pieces—you can be proud of. Our techniques and ideas will make you say, "I can do that."

How it came to be

My son and I first enjoyed our neighborhood "paint your own pottery" studio when he was just three months old. Our goal–or I should say "my goal"—was to create a few gifts for his grandparents. It turned out that a three month old would much rather look at the lights and watch people come and go.

So I asked the owner if I could take my pottery and paint at home, where it would be more convenient for me and less distracting for Thomas. Days later, we completed our works of art at the kitchen table. The at home experience allowed my husband and me to enjoy a fun time with our son and not worry about how long it took or the mess. I took my son's finished "masterpieces" back to be fired, then a week later, picked up the gifts to give to family members.

It was a great experience, but it involved several time-consuming trips to the studio. After a couple of years, with two children in tow, I thought, "There must be a better way."

That's how the idea for Thomas Claire began. And, as with most ideas, it came with the desire to take a good concept to the next level.

So, after much research, consumer testing, and more than enough encouragement from family and friends—not to mention a plethora of hand-painted pottery that I'll cherish for a lifetime--Thomas Claire at home ceramic pottery collections was founded.
